Please briefly describe any previous laboratory experience
Summer 2014 - I worked in a microbiology/immunology lab at Stanford University. Most experiments involved E. coli knockouts and testing antibiotic resistance, which were then analyzed via flow cytometry. Spring 2015-Present - I work in the Langer Lab (GI Lab subgroup). My project specializes in mostly materials science. We're trying to engineer a drug delivery and release system that allows for the absorption of drugs in the stomach for an extended period of time via a single capsule. I mostly run a variety of in-vitro drug release experiments, as well as testing safety mechanisms for the device itself.
I'm very excited to be taking my first lab class here! :)
What is your favorite food or song or song about food?
My favorite foods/drinks include, but are not limited to, sushi, Smoothie King, gourmet cheeseburgers, dim sum, and honey green tea. I have a lot of alternative rock/alternative R&B aka "California stoner music" (ex: Frank Ocean, Miguel, The Weeknd, Lorde, Chet Faker) on my Spotify, but I also enjoy pop music, especially the most ridiculous songs - like Silento's Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae). As for songs about food, I'm not a country fan (at all), but Chicken Fried by Zac Brown Band is definitely a classic. A friend got me tickets to a ZBB concert at Fenway this summer for my birthday, which was a ton of fun.
